A love story that begins and blossoms, thanks to a mix-up by Mumbai’s dabbawalas. Ila, trying to spice up her marriage by sending her husband notes with his food, accidentally gets in contact with Saajan. This accident leads to them getting close and ultimately seeking each other out, despite having never seen each other. If you’re a fan of the long-distance, pen-pal trope, this one is for you.

Daawat-E-Ishq

Food and Aditya Roy Kapur in a single film. What more do you need? (am I simping? Yes I totally am.) Revolving around Gullu’s attempt to con prospective grooms and scam them of money, but eventually falling in love with the charming chef, Tariq, this movie makes you want to book a trip to Lucknow right away. And yes, the kebabs are actually amazing, not just because Tariq is serving them. (no I will not stop simping!)

Chef

Based on a Jon Favreau film of the same name, this film really fell under the radar in my opinion. Roshan, a professional chef, travels back to Kochi to reconnect with family and get his passion back. There he decides to open up a food truck and realises his son shares his passion for cooking and tries to gain inspiration while making the food truck successful. This movie is a great depiction of how people bond over their mutual love for food.

Food is often a great topic of conversation.
