Eating a balanced diet is the best and most effective method to stay healthy and fit. Ensure that the food you consume provides the needed nutrients and energy. Eating a healthy food a minimum of four times a day is essential to maintain optimum health. You may add one or two more times if you need food.

Do not fall for the wrong temptation, which may lure you into eating and having unhealthy, fried or heavy foods. Instead, stick to following these five healthy food choices.

#1 Avoid Fad Diets

When it comes to weight loss, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. What works for some people may not work for others, and fad diets are no exception. Instead of trying a random diet that you find on the internet, it’s best to consult with a professional before starting any kind of weight loss program. There are many reputable professionals out there who can help guide you through a healthy diet plan that will work specifically for your unique body type and needs.

#2 Drink Lots of Water

Water is the one thing that sustains the body all the time. One glass of water keeps one person healthy. It is, therefore, important to have enough water in your system. It is essential to drink water on an empty stomach. Water cures bloating and stomach pain. People who do not drink enough water are more susceptible to constipation and other digestive problems. They have increased body and breathing problems as well.

#3 Eat at Regular Times during the Morning

Try to have your food at the same time during the morning. The best time to eat is around the mid-morning or a bit after lunch. This also allows for the digestion of the food better. Food takes time to absorb in the body.

#4 Eat at Regular Times during the Evening

Eating too much food before bedtime is not recommended. This leads to the feeling of hunger in the body. The stomach does not know what to eat or when to start working! Have your food around dinner between 6-8 pm.

#5 Have at Least 5 Servings of Healthy Fruits and Veggies per Day

You need at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day. There is no room for junk food on your menu. It must be a mixture of both in terms of fruits and vegetables. The list of fruits and vegetables is endless. For example, include a banana as a fruit and a cup of boiled broccoli as a vegetable to include in your meals.

You must eat at least 5 servings of fruits and 2 servings of green vegetables to meet the minimum daily requirements. When you follow these simple suggestions, you will find that you will also be getting enough protein and fibre in your diet in order to stay healthy.
